The last Japanese-Peruvian restaurant I went to was underwhelming and I've been on the hunt for this type of fusion restaurant that is good. This one is an elevated Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant known for the small plates and the Iberico pork tonkatsu, and I liked the food here mostly. Reservations were not hard to get as long as you plan a little bit ahead. The place was a bit hidden as there's not really any signs of the restaurant - to find it, you'll rely on the address of this place and see the number in the front. We ordered the scallops, crispy maitake mushrooms, octopus anticucho, fluke, swordfish, Iberico pork tonkatsu, rock shrimp uni rice, and tres leches. The scallops were good, a bit heavy to start, comes with 2 pieces. I liked the crispy maitake mushrooms with the sauce they served - while fried, this one was quite refreshing. The octopus anticucho is skewers of octopus pieces with rice and plantains served with a wasabi sauce that's fairly light and mostly flavor as opposed to a strong horseradish effect. The fluke was very refreshing and a bit interesting as there's melons, in a yuzu sauce, so it has hints of tart. This one would have been better as the first dish to start. Swordfish was decent and in a sauce that could be mistaken for wagyu, so it's a novel combination for me. The Iberico pork tonkatsu meat is very juicy but for the price tag, it is a bit overhyped as a signature dish, especially since the 2nd item in that order, the pesto udon, is overcooked. The rock shrimp uni rice was very good and should be one of the items to try amongst the other entrees. The seafood is really fresh and the rice texture is on point, a little like paella. For dessert we got tres leches which is presented like a mound of cream so it wasn't the most appetizing looking, and it was a bit dry (like regular cake). I'd skip if you're expecting a regular tres leches cake that's very moist. Service is good as water refills are present and they course out the dishes in a well paced manner. Overall, this place is good but there were a few misses for the dishes we ordered.

I visited Llama San on a Saturday evening and was thoroughly impressed! We got several things on the menu - my favorite was the skewer appetizer and the swordfish entree with the fries. Other dishes were great too, although I thought the katsu was pretty salty. I do think the 3/4 prie-fix course would have been better value economically, and would opt for that next time I come here. What was amazing though was the service. They got our finished dishes out of the table promptly, and also quickly cleaned our table when we accidentally spilled some of our sauces. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes offered. Overall, Llama San does lean on the more expensive side for me, and the portions are small. However, I would come again on a special occasion, given the nice interior and delicious food!

I've always been impressed by Erik Ramirez's Llama Inn so I had to try this sister restaurant. We did the scallops, tuna tataki, wagyu carpaccio, the rock shrimp and wagyu (entree). The wagyu carpaccio and rock shrimp were absolutely phenomenal. For dessert, the tres leches is a must. Our server was super knowledgeable and helpful in understanding the menu and the space itself was so serene. Open kitchen and with windows across the roof - the place felt like I was eating in a sun room. But the restaurant is better suited for dates or 1:1 dining versus group meals.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city! You can't go wrong with any of their dishes. Their veal breast toast and ceviche was an explosion of flavor. Each of the ingredients in the food added to the flavor profile and worked so well together. You also have to get the tonkatsu that comes with their udon verde. The meat is so tender and melts in your mouth. Highly recommend!

Came here for brunch with friends on a Saturday! Food/Drinks: They seem to change their menu often, so these dishes may not be available anymore. We all did the 3 course price fixe menu, which was a good deal for the amount of food that we got. We each tried to order different dishes, so we could try as many things as possible! - Fish (can't recall exactly what this was): I expected the fish to be cut into more uniform cubes or slices so that threw me off a bit. The flavor with the acid and avocado though was great! Excellent dish for the summer. - Scallop: This was my least favorite dish because I prefer seared scallops. The presentation was cute since they kept it on a shell. - Fried Octopus: light, crispy, and airy! The potato salad underneath was a great addition without being too heavy or mayo forward like a traditional version. - Wagyu and Eggs: Meat was tender and the sauce on the side was delicious! I ended up having to pack most of this to go because I was already full from our starters. - Tres Leches Cake: not the most photogenic dessert since it looks just like a mountain of cream, but the flavor was delicious! Service/Ambiance: Fast efficient service! They have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside, which was great for people watching but can be very hot during the summer months. Overall: cute spot with interesting fusion dishes!

This restaurant was good! Worth a visit FOOD I thought the flavors were pretty interesting, and some of the dishes I saw the blend of the Peruvian and Japanese flavors they were going for. Here are the dishes we ordered: Rock shrimp & Uni: 10/10 (MUST GET) Chicken: 8/10 (sauce was good) Scallops: 9/10 (delicately cooked scallops in a delicious sauce) Lamb toast: 7/10 (tasted interesting, jous was delicious) Overall, the one memorable dish was the rock shrimp with uni which was sort of like a Peruvian Japanese risotto with delicious morsels of uni and shrimp mixed throughout. Flavors were complex and highly recommend. SERVICE The service was excellent - definitely a fine dining establishment. The staff are very knowledgeable about the menu and they really cater to you throughout the meal. AMBIANCE Very cool interior of the restaurant and the outdoor seating area was also nice (which is where we sat on a gorgeous Sat evening). The tables are also separated from the rest of the street with tall plants and landscaping which was a nice touch. Overall, Erik Ramirez and team did a great job with this restaurant and glad we came and gave this place a try!

This place is a twist of Japanese and Peruvian mixed together. Beautiful ambiance, a bit smaller than expected, but great service! My least favorite was the tonkatsu with udon verde, as I felt like they were just too heavy and did not pair well. IT was definitely fusion but I don't think they meshed well. The side of pickled cucumbers were very much needed to overcome the buttery/greasy taste. I can't find the name of the dishes I ordered b/c the menu seems to change every now and then, but everything else was pretty yummy and unique! The scallop ceviche was refreshing but creamy. The "steak frites" was pretty unique as it was actually fish and potatoes. The crispy potatoes were really yummy! But the fish is pretty dense so you would need to cut it up and chew well. Overall, worth coming once but I don't think I would make this a frequent/"go-to" spot.

The first thing I noticed when I walked into this restaurant was the warm and welcoming lighting. The servers were equally warm and willing to answer questions about the menu as well as suggest wine pairing. We got the prix fix menu, where you can choose a dish from the first, second and third course menu items for $85. There is also an option to choose a dessert for a little extra. Everything was amazing, the dishes that stuck out to me were the kabocha squash ceviche and the wagyu beef carpaccio. Their menu is seasonal so these items may be replaced soon but would highly recommend checking this place out!

My bestie and I decided to come here for Sunday brunch. We made reservations ahead of time on Resy but I believe you should be able to wlak in as well. The service was top tier here, all the staff was so friendly and welcoming. We decided to go with the $65 pre-fix brunch menu which included one appetizer, one entree and one dessert. We both shared pretty much everything. -Trout Tartare: Absolutely delicious - went so nicely with the chips. -Scallop: Also so yummy, the flavors with the scallops went so well together. -Wagyu eggs: The meat was super tender and cooked to perfection, the potatoes were a little on the salty side but the dish went together great -Pork Katsu: One of my favorites, the katsu was very tender and flavorful and the curry and the rice was absolutely delicious. -Chocolate Tart: This was alright, it was more on the dry side but had good coffee flavor. -Tres Leches: This was okay as well - nothing too special. The place itself was very cozy and welcoming. Overall - great food and great vibes. Highly recommend checking it out if you are in search of a great brunch place!
